A mother & daughter sailing team.

“Mum says I’m a ‘chip off the old block’, I see myself as following in her footsteps…but a boat doesn’t tread on land…So I guess I’m following In Her Ocean Wake.”

Annette & Sophie on the return voyage following the 2018 Melbourne Osaka Cup.

In preparation for such an endurance event, we will be participating in other significant race events including the Ponant Sydney Noumea Yacht Race 2024 and the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2024.

However, this is more than an ocean race…or a few…we aim to share the passion and spirit of women inspired to conquer oceans. In Her Ocean Wake was created to encourage those wishing to rise to their personal adventure challenge. The cameras will be aboard from qualifiers, boat preparations and training races to the main event to create a series of videos showcasing the limits a mother & daughter are willing to push to pursue adventure.

The final goal is to be the first-ever mother & daughter sailing duo to have competed in the Melbourne to Osaka double-handed yacht race.

Our Qualifying Passage

My Mum and I have set off double-handed on one of the world’s toughest and most prestigious yacht races, the 2024 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. This year's 628 nautical mile ocean race was met with tragedy as the fleet sailed into gale-force winds. However, it is about more than a few ocean races…
